Though the Falcons were able to battle with the Bulldogs early, Lake County never quite recovered from a tough stretch in the second frame and fell 97-85 win on Tuesday night in Tiptonville.
Trailing by three following a back and forth opening question, the Falcons got a quick five points from Jatavion Ricks to take the lead then a putback by Brady Smith to extend their advantage to 29-26. But, thanks to a pair of separate technical fouls during about a five-minute span as well as a bunch of buckets from Gleason's Drake Lehmkuhl, the Bulldogs went on a 21-4 lead on the way to a 51-39 halftime advantage.
Despite an early Xander Hertel three-pointer in the third quarter, the Bulldogs pushed their lead to as much as 15 early in the second half. Another Hertel three-pointer later in the quarter along with a four-point play by Falcon Camden Chamberlain cut the deficit back to eight. But, a 10-2 run by the Bulldogs pushes the Gleason lead back to 73-57 with 3:23 left in the quarter. With two buckets and a trey from Aikee Ward the Falcons were able to cut the Gleason lead to 75-66 after a late bucket from Chamberlain.
Lake County was able to get a surge in early during the fourth quarter, cutting the Gleason lead down to four after a Ward bucket. But, a pair of Lehmkuhl free throws sparked a 12-2 run which lasted much of the quarter to seal the win for the Bulldogs.
Ward led the way for Lake County with 32 points while Chamberlain and Hertel each had 15. Ricks added 11 in the loss.

Gleason’s Lehmkuhl led all scorers with 49 points while Kade Sawyers added 33 in the win.

Lake County returns to action on Friday when the Falcons host South Fulton. Girls action begins at 6 p.m. with the boys game to follow.
