Lake County holds two-point lead, beats St. Benedict
Jason Peevyhouse Editor, JP Productions Sports An offensive battle in the opening half turned into a defensive struggle down the stretch as the Falcons took a 16-14 lead into the half and held it there to get the win on the road at St. Benedict on Friday night in Cordova. The Eagles scored in the first quarter but the Falcons responded with a Ka’Devon Gross touchdown to tie the game in the second frame on a 78-yard run. The two-pointer was also added by Gross to put Lake County on top 8-6. The Eagles answered with a score but Lake County battled back to retake the lead with another Gross touchdown and two-pointer to take a 16-14 lead into the half. Though there were some struggles by the Falcons in the second half, Lake County held on to get the win on the road and even their record at 1-1 on the season. Lake County returns to action on Friday, Sept. 5 when the Falcons travel to Ripley to take on the Tigers at 7 p.m. Coverage of this story brought to you by:
