  Three Oaks Choctaws - WTAC Class A Champions Jason Peevyhouse Editor, JP Productions Sports Three Oaks (20-0) continued its undefeated march through the 2025 campaign as the Choctaws scored early and often to defeat Northview 16-1 on Wednesday night at Three Oaks in the finals of the West Tennessee Athletic Conference Tournament. Northview Choctaws - WTAC Class A Runner-up “Our boys, they just know how to hit,” Three Oaks Head Coach Hayden Campbell said following the title game victory. “They’re aggressive. “When they get out on the field, they love to go to the plate and swing the bat.” Three Oaks got onto the board in the bottom of the first inning with a pair of runs to take the lead.   Jason Peevyhouse Editor, JP Productions Sports The game was scoreless for two and a half innings before an eight-run bottom of the third by Northview blew the game open and led to the Choctaws’ 10-0 win over Halls in the semifinals of the West Tennessee Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday at Three Oaks. With the game tied at 0-0 through the top of the second, a hit batter, Knox Smith,   began the scoring spree for Northview. Drake Santiago followed with a single then Mason McCain’s single resulted in the two runs scoring. Clark Ross followed with an RBI double then scored three batters later when Easton Lehmann drew a bases-loaded walk to put the Choctaws up four. A Will Trevathan sacrifice fly added another run then Smith drew a bases-loaded walk to plate another. Santiago then doubled in two more to put Northview firmly in command, 8-0, after three innings.   Jason Peevyhouse Editor, JP Productions Sports Three Oaks (19-0) looked to be cruising to a big win on Tuesday in the semifinals of the West Tennessee Athletic Conference Tournament on the Choctaws homefield before a six-run fourth inning by the Falcons made things interesting before TOMS claimed the 10-6 win to advance to Wednesday’s championship game. Three Oaks got its offense going early as Landon Todd singled then Maddox Davis followed with an RBI single to put the Choctaws on the board. After Cullen Messer drew a walk, Braxton Anderson singled in another run to double the Three Oaks lead. Grayson Daniels followed with a ground up but plated a run in the process before Crawford Childress did the same to put the Choctaws on top 4-0 after one inning.   Jason Peevyhouse  Editor, JP Productions Sports  With the TCCAA Baseball Tournament coming up, the Dyersburg State Eagles will have a new skipper in the dugout as first-year head coach George White submitted his resignation on Tuesday afternoon.  Dyersburg State Athletic Director Steve Cornelison confirmed White submitted his resignation to the school on Tuesday.  Eagles Interim Assistant Chris Messer will serve as head coach through the tournament, Cornelison added.   The Lady County Middle School softball team avenged last week’s loss to Three Oaks on the Lady Choctaws’ field as the Lady Falcons opened the West Tennessee Athletic Conference Tournament with a 13-8 victory over Three Oaks to eliminate the Lady Choctaws on Monday night in Ripley. Lake County got on the board in the top of the first with a two-run single from Braylee Mays to put the Lady Falcons on top early. LeAuna Hopper added an RBI single later in the inning to give the green and gold a 3-0 lead after half an inning. Three Oaks had an answer in the bottom of the inning, matching the Lady Falcons run for run. An Ava Prince single scored two runs to cut the Lake County lead to a run. With the bases loaded later in the inning, Kilayna Roberts was hit by a pitch to score a run and tie the game at 3-3 after one inning.   Lake County brought its regular season to a successful conclusion on Monday night as the Lady Falcons traveled to Greenfield where the green and gold swept a doubleheader from the Lady Jackets by a combined score of 26-1. Lake County 12, Greenfield 1 In a game which took three innings to come to conclusion in the doubleheader, the Lady Falcons set the tone for the day with an eight-run first inning. An RBI single from Caren Johnson got things going in the top of the first for Lake County as she later scored on a passed ball. Mailee Hicks also scored on a wild pitch and Kensi Hays scored on an error to put the Lady Falcons on top by four with one out. Rachel Mahan scored later in the inning on a dropped third strike before Laken Chism grounded out to score another run.   With the District 13-3A Tournament beginning on Thursday on the Choctaws’ homefield, Dyer County’s softball team got one last regular season workout in as the orange and white defeated Tipton-Rosemark Academy, 6-5, on Monday in walkoff fashion. The Lady Rebels got on the board first with a run in the first inning as the two teams began what turned into a matching game of scoring. Dyer County answered the TRA run in the bottom of the first with one of its own. Kierstyn Ray and Evie Rogers each reached on separate errors then a Rylee Key groundout tied the game at 1-1 after one inning. Neither team was able to string its offense together again until the top of the sixth inning. Howe singled to lead off the Lady Rebel half of the frame then Sykes singled her in.   Jason Peevyhouse Editor, JP Productions Sports With the game tied at 3-3 after five innings and the one-hour and 45 minute time limit expired, the Lake County Middle School baseball team got a big blast from Harrison Metoyer, who extended the Falcon season with a go-ahead homer to help the green and gold to a 6-3 win over Ripley in the opening round of the West Tennessee Athletic Conference Tournament at Three Oaks on Monday evening. The Tigers had looked to end the game in the bottom of the fifth as leadoff batter Brantley Sanders drew a leadoff walk then stole second before advancing to third during the next batter’s at bat. But, Metoyer was also dealing on the mound as he struck out the next three batters to strand Sanders at third. With the time limit already expired as the top of the sixth inning began, Camden Lanier led off the top of the frame with a single then J.C.
