“Our boys, they just know how to hit,” Three Oaks Head Coach Hayden Campbell said following the title game victory. “They’re aggressive.

“When they get out on the field, they love to go to the plate and swing the bat.”

Three Oaks got onto the board in the bottom of the first inning with a pair of runs to take the lead. Landon Todd led off the frame with a single then Maddox Davis homered to left to put TOMS ahead 2-0 after one inning.

After giving up a leadoff walk to start the top of the second, Three Oaks’ pitcher Cullen Messer struck out the next three batters to get through the second inning with a two-run lead in tact.

The bottom of the second was when Three Oaks struck its biggest blow of the day. Crawford Childress and Corbyn Kolwyck led off the frame with singles leading to an RBI single by Talon Harrell to extend the TOMS lead. Nate Vick added an RBI groundout then Todd singled in a run. Davis doubled in another run before Messer singled in a run. Braxton Anderson continued the hitting streak with an RBI double before Grayson Daniels singled in a run to give Three Oaks a 9-0 lead heading into the third inning.

Northview got on the board in the top of the third inning as Drake Santiago broke up the Three Oaks no-hitter. After a Clark Ross single and Nolan Tull reached on an error leading to a Neyland Murray RBI single to cut the Three Oaks lead to 9-1 after two and a half innings.

Three Oaks continued to put runs on the board in the bottom of the third. Harrell led off with a double then Vick drew a walk. Two batters later, Davis singled in a run then Messer drew a walk which led to Anderson grounding into a fielder’s choice to plate a run. After Davis scored on a passed ball, Daniels followed with a two-run home run to give Three Oaks a 14-1 lead after three frames.

After a 1-2-3 top of the fourth inning, Three Oaks got two on quick with walks by Ryder Korn and Julian Atchison. Todd grounded out to score a run then Davis doubled in the final run of the game to bring the mercy rule into effect and clinch the conference title for Three Oaks.

Davis led the way for Three Oaks with a home run, two doubles and a single with five RBI. Daniels added a homer and a single with three RBI. Harrell added a double and a single while Todd and Kolwyck added two singles. Northview was limited to singles by Santiago, Clark Ross and Murray.

“It’s not fun to lose that way,” Northview Head Coach Jacob Stewart said. “But, our kids know, our coaches know and I think everybody else knows that we are capable of beating anybody any day.

“We just have to come out and play our brand of baseball. I’m not sweating this. We’ll be fine.”

WTAC All-Tournament Team

Messer picked up the win on the mound, allowing one run on three hits with two strikeouts.

“Cullen (Messer) game in there and threw a great game then Maddox (Davis) came in and threw a great game as well,” Campbell said.

Both teams will take part in the next week’s TMSAA regional tournament in Jackson which begins on Tuesday.

“We’re not going to do anything different,” Campbell added. “We’re going to get up ready to hit – same thing we always do. Going to throw some great games. Just do our thing.”

Three Oaks moves into the regional tournament with a record of 20-0 while Northview moves on with an 11-7 mark.

“It’s surreal,” Three Oaks’ first-year head coach said. “I’m blessed to have the team that I have, the coaches I have and the support staff that I have.”
