Following a standout career which saw her play on four straight state tournament games as well as bring home multiple individual honors, Lady Choctaw Volleyball senior Teagan Reed will continue her career on the court as a member the Jackson State Community College Lady Green Jays next season.

“I feel great,” Reed sign following the singing ceremony on Wednesday afternoon at Dyer County High School. “Coach K (Alexis Kapales) gave me the opportunity to further my career in volleyball and she’s also offered to help me get to Division I as well.”

That final part was a big factor in Reed becoming a Lady Green Jay in the fall.

“It was the way she offered everything and worded everything to get me somewhere I’ve been dreaming of,” Reed explained. “Going D-I anywhere is my goal and she said she can get me there.

“She’s giving me the opportunity to be great.”

Earlier this year, Reed was named to her second straight Tennessee Sportswriters Association All-State Team. Reed was the team’s leader in kills with 461 on the season while also leading the orange and white with 370 digs and 86 aces. Reed also recorded 30 blocks. Reed was also named to postseason teams in District 13AA and Region 7AA.

“They’re getting an all-around, awesome individual,” Dyer County Head Coach Shanna O’Bright said of Reed. “She’s just such a hustler, she’s so athletic, and she’s such a great kid.

“She works so hard – I’ve never seen work ethic like this. She is going to do wonderful things at the next level. I am excited to follow her future. We’re going to miss her in every aspect of the game – her offense, her defense and her leadership. Just overall, her court presence. We’re going to miss her.”

O’Bright added Reed has been the heart of the team during their four-year state tournament run.

“She’s done what needed to be done,” the Dyer County head coach said. “Watching her grow and improve from her freshman year to now has been an exciting journey. I’ve been happy to be a part of it.”
