Northview remains unbeaten with win over Lake County
Northview moved to 7-0 on the season, scoring in double figures for the second time in four days to take an 11-1 win over Lake County on Thursday in Newbern.
Lake County got the scoring started in the top of the first
as Stewart was hit by a pitch then scored on a Chism groundout to put the Lady Falcons
on top 1-0 after a half inning.
Northview answered with a pair of runs in the Lady Choctaw half
of the first. Kate Benedetto doubled then scored on a passed ball to tie the game.
Emily Hall singled with one out and scored on a Berkley Childress groundout to
give Northview a 2-1 lead after one inning.
The Lady Choctaws added to their lead in the bottom of the
second frame. Ellie Permenter and Lilly Tucker both drew walks to open the
inning. Permenter scored moments later on an error then Benedetto reached on an
error which scored a run to put Northview on top 4-1 after two frames.
Northview picked up another run in the bottom of the third
as Harper Peery doubled then scored on a Childress single to put the Lady Choctaws
lead at 5-1 after three innings.
The Lady Choctaws tacked on a trio of runs in the bottom of
the fifth inning. Benedetto singled and Hall walked before a Childress triple
plated them both then stole home to give Northview an 8-1 lead after five
frames.
Northview put the game away in the bottom of the sixth. With
two outs, Lyla Beth Woody walked then a Benedetto single and a Peery walk loaded
the bases. Hall and Childress followed with walks to plate a run each before
Wright ended the game with a single to plate a run and put the mercy rule into
play.
Benedetto led the way for Northview with a double and two
singles while Childress added a triple and a single with five RBI in the win.
Emmalee Sweatt held Lake County to one run on three hits
with six strikeouts in six innings of work.
Northview returns to action on Monday when the Lady Choctaws
travel to Halls at 5 p.m. Lake County will be in action again on Friday when
the Lady Falcons travel to Munford at 5:30 p.m.
