The Obion County Central journey through the preseason
continued on Friday as the Rebels made the trip up to Mayfield, Ky. for a
three-way scrimmage with Graves County and Humboldt to continue their scrimmage
schedule.
It was a positive scrimmage experience, according to Central
Head Coach Clayton Morris.
“I am really pleased with our performance Friday night,”
Morris said. “Obviously, things still to fix, but I noticed an improvement from
last week to this week. That’s what you want.”
There were two areas where the Rebels improved which stuck
out to the second-year head coach.
“Without a doubt O-line and run game,” Morris explained. “We
know we have to get that aspect of our game going. Still work to be done, but
definite growth was made.”
Morris admitted he felt his team benefited from the
experience of playing a three-way scrimmage.
“The trick is getting your team to respond to unplanned
situations,” Morris added. “A three-way scrimmage does that. Just when you get
used to one team, you change the script and go against someone different.”
Central takes on Brighton on Friday night to close out the
Rebels’ preseason journey in the Star Physical Therapy-West Tennessee Bone
& Joint Clinic High School Football Jamboree at Dyersburg High School.
Morris talked about some of the things he wants see his team
work on between Friday’s scrimmage and the final game of the preseason on the
turf at J.C. Sawyers Stadium.
“I want to see our offense continue to grow,” Morris said. “I
want to see our QB play really take off. I want someone on our defense to take
a game over.”
