With the Trojans on a roll and riding a four-game winning streak which has seen Dyersburg win each of the games by an average of 26 points per game, Obion County Central will welcome the black and gold to Troy this Friday night.

Central, having dropped the past two games against two of Region 7-4A’s traditional powers, will look to rebound and get back on the winning track this Friday night against the Trojans.

Coming off last week’s loss at Covington, Central Head Coach Clayton Morris shared what he wants his team to take away from last week’s loss to the Chargers.

“We never laid down,” Morris explained. “We fought till the end. We are going to need that fight.”

Fresh off a homecoming win over Bolivar, Dyersburg Head Coach Bart Stowe wants to keep his team’s momentum going after winning four straight games.

“We’ve got to learn from the mistakes we’ve made and we’ve got to keep the momentum going,” Stowe said. “We’ve got to keep pressing to get better.

“It was a region game, which is very important – just like this Friday night against Obion Central is a region game. It’s important because of playoff standings.”

When Central’s Morris looks at the Dyersburg offense, he sees some definite concerns for the Rebel defense.

“They are very physical offensively and have big play potential all over the field,” Morris said. “We are going to have to be very disciplined.”

For this, Morris expects to see some strong play from the guys behind the first line of defense for the Rebels – especially on the outside.

“Our OLBs need to have the game of their lives in order for us to be successful,” the Central head coach said.

The Rebels have shown multiple fronts according the Stowe. This means the offensive line will be a key.

“We’ve got to do a good job of having a good pad level and staying on our blocks,” the Trojan head coach said. “We’ve got to run the ball hard and protect the football as well as catching the ball. We’ve got to play good team ball.”

Defensively, the Trojans give Morris concerns up front.

“Their defensive box is really good,” Morris said. “Our offensive line is going to have their hands full. But I think they are up to the task.”

Morris said the line as well as others will need to have a big game on Friday night.

“Need a big game from our QB and O-line,” Morris explained. “Our backfield is banked up. Time for them to step up.”

Stowe pointed to the Rebels ability to attack in multiple ways as a concern for the Trojan defense. This comes because the offense has been known to put up points – like in the Rebels’ three wins this season.

“They’re very multiple,” Stowe explained. “They do a lot with their quarterback. The do a lot in the read game.

“Our defense has got to play well and defend the whole field. They do a really good job of mixing in some quarterback run game – RPO stuff and zone read stuff – with their normal run game.”

The defensive line and linebackers will be the key for the Trojans on defense, according to the Trojan head coach.

“Our defensive line has got to set the front,” Stowe explained. “Our linebackers have got to read it because they’re going to have some RPO stuff run at them.

“We’ve got to defend the quarterback – the run, the pass – all of it. Our secondary has got to do a good job with perimeter coverage. And, we’ve got to pursue the ball. We’ve got to play good team defense.”

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Troy.
