Lake County will host its final non-region opponent of the
season this Friday night as the Falcons will look to bounce back from last week’s
loss to Gleason when the green and gold take on Fulton County, Ky. in Tiptonville.
The Falcons suffered their second defeat of the season last
week, falling 50-34 to visiting Gleason in a game which saw Lake County battle
back from near mercy rule to within a touchdown of tying the game.
Lake County Head Coach Hunter Short shared what he wants his
players to take away from last week’s loss to the Bulldogs.
“We can’t start slow and expect to win football games,”
Short said. “We came out flat and that’s on me. We can’t do that again.”
Heading into this Friday night with the Pilots, Short sees
some challenges when it comes to the Fulton County offense.
“They have some skill players that when they have the ball
in their hands can go score from anywhere,” Short added.
This will put some pressure on the back end of the Falcon
defense.
“Our DBs have to prove that they trust their coaching and do
their jobs,” the Lacke County head coach said. “We struggled to do that last
week.”
On the other side of the ball, there is speed and skill to
deal with as well when it comes to the Pilots.
“They are a fast defense that gets a lot of helmets to the
ball,” Short explained. “We have to be able to sustain blocks up front.”
The guys up front for the Lake County offense will need to
continue to improve and build against the Pilots.
“Our young offensive line is still trying to figure some
things out,” Short explained. “Hopefully, they start meshing more this week.”
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. this Friday night in Tiptonville.
