After starting the season on the road and coming away from both trips with two wins, Obion County Central (2-0) returns home on Friday night as the Rebels host Gleason (1-1) for Homecoming 2025 at Troy.

Central is coming off a 46-0 shutout over Gibson County last week in Dyer and there are things Rebel Head Coach Clayton Morris wants his team to take away from the second win of the season.

“Truly, to keep the mindset of taking care of our responsibilities early and dictating the tone of the game,” Morris explained.

The Bulldogs from Tater Town come from one of the smallest football-playing schools in Tennessee. Yet, as Morris pointed out, Gleason is not to be underestimated. The Central head coach shared his concerns about the Bulldogs offensively.

“Gleason is going to throw a lot of formations at us, which has the potential to stress our defense,” Morris explained. “They also have a couple of skill guys in Brody Sanders and Gage Byington who can make big plays all over the field.

“We are going to have to have be at our most mentally dialed in night yet defensively.”

There are a pair of defenders Morris points to who need to have big games for the Rebels this week.

“For us, it’s gonna fall on two veteran defenders,” Morris explained. “Bryson Underwood and Morgan Carpenter are going to be responsible for lining us up and making calls.

“I trust them, and the defense trusts them. They can handle the execution of our plan.”

On the other side of the ball, the outside linebackers for the Bulldogs are a big key to their defense.

“On defense, their OLBs are the key,” Morris explained. “I feel that Sanders and Drake Lehkuhl are two of their better defensive players.

“Their safeties are also physical and get downhill. We will have to try and loosen them up with our vertical passing game in order to get our runs going.”

Morris will be looking to the Rebel offensive line as a key to the team’s success.

“They’ve been quietly doing their job well, but now is the time for that unit to take over a game,” Morris explained.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Obion County Central in Troy.
