Trojans roll past Tigers to homecoming win

After a big road Region win against the
McNairy Central Bobcats, the Dyersburg Trojans returned to J.C. Sawyers Stadium
to celebrate Homecoming 2025. This week, they faced Region foe Bolivar Central
Tigers, and the Trojans were able to take care of business, 44-6, to move to
2-0 in Region 7-3A play.
Dyersburg won the coin toss and deferred, so Bolivar received the opening kick. After three pass plays, the Trojans' defense forced a fumble at midfield. After six plays, Dyersburg had first-and-goal from the 9-yard line. On third-and-goal from the 1, a Logston Morgan sneak came up just short. On fourth-and-goal, a toss right to Quincy Terry got into the end zone. The extra point by Elian Gonzalez was good, which made the score 7-0 Trojans.
The Trojans were able to recover the
pooch kick at the Tigers' 37-yard line. On second and long, Ty Seaton caught a
tipped pass to get down to the 18-yard line. On the next play, a handoff to
Demond Dillard went the rest of the way for the Trojans' score. The extra point
was good, extending the Trojans' lead 14-0.
The Tigers got the ball at their own 20-yard
line to start the next drive. On third-and-4, a pass from Colton Mayfield to
Avion Jackson went 74 yards for the Tigers' touchdown. The extra point by Caden
Bethuram was blocked, which cut the Trojan lead to 14-6.
Dyersburg got the ball at its own 17-yard
line to start the next drive. After a first-down run by Dillard, the Trojans were
forced into a third-and-8, but a Morgan pass to Seaton moved the chains for the
Trojans. On third-and-1, Dillard picked up 14 for another first down. On second-and-9,
a toss to Terry gained 10 yards for a first down. On the next play, a pass to
Necari Hall went the rest of the way for the Trojans' touchdown. The extra
point was good, which made the score 21-6.
Bolivar got the ball at their own 37-yard line on the ensuing kickoff. The Tigers gained four yards but were forced to punt, where the Trojans got the ball at their own 29. On third-and-8, a Morgan pass to Isaiah Thomas gained one and the Trojans were forced to punt. Bolivar got the ball at their own 45-yard line. On the first play, a Mayfield pass was intercepted by Gonzalez and Dyersburg got the ball back at their own 28-yard line. The Trojans were able to get the ball down to the Bolivar 18-yard line before being forced to attempt a Gonzalez field goal, which was good, pushing the Trojan lead to 24-6.
The Tigers got the kickoff at their own
30-yard line. On third-and-27, a Mayfield run goes all the way to the 45-yard line.
The Tigers were able to get down to the Dyersburg 35-yard line before penalties
backed them up and the half ended with the Trojans up 24-6.
Dyersburg got the ball at its own 35-yard
line to start the second half. The Trojans got down to the Bolivar 23-yard line
before they got into a fourth-and-2, but a penalty moved the chains. On the
next play, a handoff to Dillard went the rest of the way for the Trojans'
touchdown. The extra point was good, which made the score 31-6.
Bolivar got the ball at their own 20-yard
line. After a Dyersburg sack on third-and-12, a Tigers punt to Seaton was
downed at Midfield. After a long drive, the Trojans were in fourth-and-two from
the 12-yard line, and a toss to Jaden Harris went the rest of the way for the Trojans'
touchdown. The extra point was good, pushing the Trojans' lead up to 38-6.
The Tigers got the ball at their own 20-yard
line on the ensuing kickoff. A handoff to Jadariun Morrow went for 28 yards on
the first play. Five plays later on fourth-and-six, an incomplete pass gave
Dyersburg the ball at their own 33-yard line. On the second play of the drive,
a toss to Ty’marion Hill got down to the Tigers' 38-yard line. On
second-and-five, a hand off to Cortez Barbee went all the way for the Trojans'
touchdown. The extra point by Celso Gonzalez was no good, which made the score
44-6 Trojans.
Dyersburg totaled 411 yards of offense with
319 coming on the ground in the win.
The Trojans will hit the road next week to take on the Obion County Central Rebels on Friday, Sept. 26. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
