The Rebels have had a tough stretch of games, taking on the traditional top three teams in Region 7-3A in Westview, Covington and Dyersburg in consecutive weeks. Central will look to get back on the winning track on Friday night as the red and blue travel to Selmer to take on McNairy Central.

The Rebels were able to put together a good second-half effort on Friday night, rallying from the verge of being mercy-ruled for a third straight week to make the final 24 minutes of their loss to Dyersburg far more competitive.

“(We need to remember) that we are a good football team, and it’s time for us to start believing it and playing like it,” Rebel Head Coach Clayton Morris said of last week’s game.

Moving ahead to their showdown with McNairy in Selmer, Morris shared some of his concerns regarding the Bobcat offense.

“The QB (Jackson King) has big play potential with his legs,” the Rebel head coach explained. “He can make things happen out of busted plays.”

Morris said the Rebel back side linebackers have to play very well and not miss when they look to tackle Bobcat ball carriers.

On the other side of the ball, Morris expects the Bobcat defense to challenge the Rebel running attack.

“They are going to load the box on us and try to make our run game hard to come by,” Morris said. “We have to communicate and take what they give us.”

Morris said the Rebels will need a big game from Central quarterback Tucker Phelon and the Obion receiving corp.

“This will be a big region game for both teams,” Morris added. “It should be very fun.”

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday night in Selmer.
