The Dyersburg girls soccer team saw their run in the TSSAA Class AA State Tournament come to an end on Tuesday. But, it was not without a fight as the Lady Trojans scored three second-half goals to force an overtime before falling 8-3 to Station Camp at Boyd Buchanan in Chattanooga.

Trailing 2-0 after Station Camp goals in the 20th and 51st minutes, Dyersburg was able to put together a strong finish to the second half on offense. Kathleen Harrell found an open Haddy Manneh for a goal in the 55th minute to cut the Lady Bison lead to 2-1.

Dyersburg then got an unassisted goal from Harrell four minutes later to tie the game at 2-2 in the 59th minute.

The Lady Trojans then completed the turnaround with a Manneh goal in the 74th minute on an assist by Meredith Zamzow to take a 3-2 lead with under six minutes remaining in the game.

Station Camp was able to answer, breaking the Dyersburg scoring spree with a Laura Hendricks goal just over a minute later to tie the game at 3-3 in the 75th minute.

Lady Trojan goalkeeper Grace Ann Webb was able to make a save late in regulation to send the game into overtime.

The Lady Bison snatched the momentum early in the overtime frame as Izzy Palenzuela scored goals in the first and second minutes of the first overtime frame to help Station Camp take a 5-3 lead which held through the first of two ten-minute overtime halves.

In the second half of overtime, Station Camp put the game out of reach with three more goals to escape with the win and advance to the TSSAA Class AA Semifinals.

The loss ends Dyersburg’s season with a record of 16-6. The exit from the postseason also brings an end to the high school careers of Lady Trojan seniors Harrell, Maria Vazquez, Mya Shelton, Ava Winegardner, Sarah Harris, and Adallani Lopez.
