Coming off a mercy-rule win in the opening round of the
TSSAA Class 4A Playoff last week at home, Dyer County will take to the road in
Week 13 of the 2025 football campaign, where they will travel to Lewisburg to
take on Marshall County on Friday.
With the playoff-opening win behind them, Dyer County Head Coach Justin Dubruiel shared what he wants his team to take away from the big victory over Lakeland Prep.
“We can’t take anything for granted,” Dubruiel said. “Every
game could be the last.
“We want to build on what we have done the past couple of weeks
and hope to keep this snowball rolling.”
Offensively, Dubruiel said the Tiger offense runs through
quarterback Tyler Thompson.
“He is a talented passer and runner,” the Choctaw head coach
said. “They have multiple receivers that can get the ball and go the distance
as well.”
The Dyer County defense will need a big game from its
backend to keep the Tiger offense in check.
“We are going to need a big game from our secondary this
week,” Dubruiel said. “They will have to keep their rules and eyes right.”
On the other side of the ball, the Tigers can be a handful
according to the Dyer County Head Coach.
“Defensively, they love to bring pressure and are physical
with their defensive line,” Dubruiel said. “They all fly to the football.”
The Choctaw offense will need to have its line set the tone
to be successful.
“Our offensive line is where it starts,” Dubruiel said. “If
we can be physical with them we should be able to hold our own.”
Long-time football fans will probably notice a trip into
Middle Tennessee is coming at least a couple weeks early for teams like Dyer
County and others in Region 7-4A. This is because the TSSAA restructured the
playoff format this year to arrange matchups between regions 5-8 during the
earlier rounds of the postseason.
“I love it,” Dubruiel said. “Playing new teams is what the
playoffs should be about.”
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday night in Lewisburg.
