Following a dominating win to not only snap a three-game losing skid but end the regular season on a positive note, Dyersburg will enter the postseason on Friday night as the Trojans travel down to Bolton for the second straight year looking to tame the Wildcats.

Dyersburg Head Coach Bart Stowe said he wants to see his team keep the momentum it regained from defeating Ripley last Thursday night.

“We’ve got to play four quarters of football and take that momentum into Memphis,” Stowe said. “We don’t get to play at home this week but I was really proud of how our boys got sent off in the right way on Senior Night.

“Now, we’ve got to take that momentum that we played with here to face Bolton in the playoffs.”

Offensively, the Wildcats are a spread attack team which can give defenses concerns.

“They are very dynamic,” Stowe pointed out. “They’ve got really good speed on the edges.

“We’ve got to contain their speed and they like to throw it deep. So, we’ve got to do a good job with that.”

Stowe added the Wildcats have a strong running game which will give the Trojans some concern.

Last season, Dyersburg also travelled down to Arlington to take on Bolton in the first round of the Class 3A Playoffs. The Trojans came away with a 52-15 win to end the Wildcats season and Stowe agreed the hosting Bolton team should be looking for some payback this Friday night.

“We’ve got a history with Bolton and I know they’ll be ready for us,” the Trojan head coach explained. “Their coach has been there for a long time and he does a good job. They’ve had a really good season. It shows by their record and they get to host a playoff game.

“We know we’ve got to go down there and play well.”

On the other side of the ball, the Wildcats like to attack opposing offenses.

“They blitz a lot,” Stowe pointed out. “We’ve got to do a good job of preparing for the blitz and picking it up.

“We’ve got to block low and stay on block. We’ve got to run the ball well and throw the ball well.”

Stowe added not turning the ball over will be a big key as well.

When asked what is one key for the Trojans on both sides of the ball, consistency was his answer.

“Just being consistent,” Stowe said. “It’s the playoffs. It’s all about four quarters. It’s about that night. You don’t have next week. You have four quarters of football.

“We’ve got to be ready to play. We’ve got to play our best from the first quarter throughout.”

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday night at Bolton High School in Arlington.
