The Lady Trojans moved to 4-2 on the season on Monday night
and did so in dominating fashion, defeating Ripley 76-18 on the road in
Lauderdale County.
Though the Dyersburg girls started off comparatively slowly
in the opening frame, Dyersburg got six points from Chelby Jordan and five by
Kay Kay Strayhorn to take a 20-11 lead after one quarter.
Dyersburg’s defense held Ripley to just four points in the second
frame to slow down the Lady Tiger offense. Meanwhile, the Lady Trojans got five
points from Kaliyah Lewis and four each by Strayhorn, Jordan and Aerie Quinn to
take a commanding 46-15 lead into the half.
The Lady Trojans continued to score at will in the third
quarter. Eleven points from Jordan led the way for the black and gold with
Kathleen Harrell adding a jumper and a three-pointer as part of a second straight
26-point frame to take a 72-18 lead into the half.
With the clock running and the mercy rule in effect,
Dyersburg cruised to the win.
Jordan led the way with 21 points while Strayhorn added 12
and Quinn tossed in 10.
Ripley boys 40, Dyersburg 36
A low-scoring game through three quarters saw the points
pick up in the fourth quarter as Ripley took the win over Dyersburg.
Trailing by two heading into the final eight minutes, the
Trojans got a nine-point from Jace Ward to keep them within striking distance of
the Tigers. But, Ripley was able to put together a 15-point final quarter to
take the win.
Ward led the way for the Trojans with 22 points in the loss.
Dyersburg finally makes its home debut for the 2025-26 season
on Friday when the Trojans and Lady Trojans host Humboldt beginning at 6 p.m.
