Trojans hold off Northview to complete sweep

The Dyersburg Middle School Trojans gained a measure of
revenge on Monday night at home, handing Northview a 42-30 defeat.
With six points coming from Elijah Dennie, the Trojans took
an 8-2 lead after one quarter.
The Choctaws battle back in the second stanza. While holding Dyersburg to just nine points in the frame, Northview rallied with four points each from Harrison Moore and Marcus Robinson to cut the Dyersburg lead to 17-12 heading into the half.
Punctuated by a pair of Robinson buckets early in the third quarter,
the Choctaws rallied to tie the game at 17-17. But, Dennie responded with six
for Dyersburg and LaBradford Gause did the same as the Trojans outscored Northview
12-2 over the rest of the frame to take a commanding 29-19 lead over the Choctaws.
From there, Dyersburg was able to keep Northview at bay as
the Trojans held on for the win.
Dennie led the way for Dyersburg with 14 while Gouse added a
dozen in the win.
Robinson had 12 to pace Northview in the Choctaw loss.

The Lady Trojans completed their season sweep of the Lady
Choctaws, taking a 35-point win over Northview.
Desleign Strayhorn led the way for the Lady Trojans in the opening quarter with seven points as Dyersburg took a 12-5 lead after one quarter.
Eight more points from Strayhorn doubled Northview’s output
in the second quarter as the Lady Trojans extended their lead to 29-9 at the half.
Taj Jones took the lead in the third quarter, scoring nine
to help Dyersburg take a 46-17 advantage into the final frame.
From there, with the clock running in mercy rule, the Lady
Trojans cruised to the win.
Strayhorn and Jones each had 15 points to lead Dyersburg in
the win.
Cailee Adams led Northview with five points in the loss.
The Trojans and Lady Trojans return to the court on Tuesday
when Dyersburg travels to Three Oaks at 6 p.m. Meanwhile, Northview is back in
action on Thursday when the Choctaws and Lady Choctaws travel to Ripley for a 6
p.m. tipoff.
