Lake County had a tough go of it during its return to action
on Friday night at Troy in the first game of the 2026 portion of the green and
gold’s schedule.
The Falcons fell behind early and never really recovered before
falling to Obion County Central 71-48. Earlier in the night, the Lady Falcons met
a similar fate as the Lady Rebels took a 72-49 victory over the Lake County
girls.

The Rebels never trailed after jumping out to an early lead
on the way to a 23-point win over the Falcons.
Despite five points from Jax Poole and a three-pointer from Xander
Hertel, the Rebels set the tone early and took a 19-12 lead after one quarter.
The Lake County defense still struggled to hold the Rebels in
check as Central added 17 points to its side of the board in the final eight minutes
of the first half. The Falcons were nearly able to duplicate their first-quarter
point total thanks in part to four points from Mark Owens and another trifecta
from Hertel. Central took a 36-23 lead at the half.
The Rebel defense continued to keep Lake County in check in
the third quarter, with Jay Ricks and Poole combining to score ten of the Falcons
13 points in the frame. Central pushed its lead to 55-36 heading into the final
frame.
From there, the Rebels held on and completed the season sweep
over Lake County.
Poole led Lake County with 13 points in the loss.

The Lady Falcons had three girls in double-figure scoring
but the Lady Rebels were able to get their lead early and take the 23-point win
over Lake County’s girls.
Laken Chism led Lake County in the first frame with seven
points while Mariah Valentine added four as the Lady Falcons trailed 25-11
after one quarter.
The Lake County defense stepped up in the second quarter, holding
the Lady Rebels to just 13 points in the final eight minutes of the first half.
Meanwhile, the Lady Falcons were able to stay on Central’s heels in the second
quarter. Five points from Yharia Bolden and four more from Valentine helped the
Lady Falcons only trail 38-22 at the half.
But the Lady Rebels were able to pull away further in the
third quarter. While limiting Lake County to 11 points for the third straight
quarter, Central was able to push its lead to 55-33 at the end of three frames.
Eight points from Valentine and six from Bolden helped the Lady
Falcons end on a more positive note before falling to the Lady Rebels.
Valentine led the way for the Lady Falcons with 18 points
while Bolden added 15. Chism tossed in 14 in the loss.
Lake County returns to action on Tuesday when the Lady
Falcons and Falcons return home to Tiptonville to host another District 13-3A opponent
as Dyer County makes the trip north for a s 6 p.m. tipoff.
