Dyer County volleyball duo named to Tennessee

Coming off the team’s fourth straight trip to the TSSAA Class AA State Tournament where the Lady Choctaws came within one win of bringing a state title back to Newbern, two Dyer County volleyball players were recently honored by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association with all-state selections for their efforts on the court this past season.

Dyer County senior Teagan Reed closed out her prep career in orange and white with her second all-state selection as she also made the 2023 squad. She was selected to the 2024 team as an outside hitter.

Reed, committed to Jackson State, was the team’s leader in kills with 461 on the season while also leading the orange and white with 370 digs and 86 aces. Reed also recorded 30 blocks.

Reed was also named to postseason teams in District 13AA and Region 7AA.

Joining on the all-state team was first-time all-state selection Rylee Key, a junior middle hitter.

 “Rylee is a force at the net with blocks,” O’Bright added. “I look for big things from her next season also!”

Key, a UT-Martin commit, recorded 460 kills to finish right behind Reed in the team stat column and create a formidable front line. Key also had a team-high 95 blocks during the team’s run to the state title game.

Key also earned individual honors from District 13AA and Region 7AA.
