Lady Choctaws get into 13-3A win column

After opening their District 13-3A schedule with losses to a state semifinalist and the defending Class 3A State Champions, the Lady Choctaws got on the board in the district standings on Friday night in Troy with a 64-56 win over the Lady Rebels at Obion County Central.

Both teams played to a 30-30 tie at the half before a dominant third quarter from the Lady Choctaws. Anitra Honore scored ten of the team’s 25 points in the frame to give the Dyer County girls a 55-41 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Rebels battled back but the Lady Choctaws held them off with Tykeria Kennedy leading the way to the eight-point win.

Honore led the way for the Lady Choctaws with 19 points while Alijah Robinson tossed in 16. Kennedy scored 12 in the win for the Lady Choctaws.


Obion County Central Rebels 72, Dyer County Choctaws 52

The Rebels remained unbeaten in the district while the Choctaws dropped to 0-3 in 13-3A play as Central handed the orange and white a 20-point loss.

A tight game after one quarter turned to the Rebels favor as Central hit seven three-pointers in the second stanza, turning a 17-16 game into a 40-25 halftime lead for the hosting Obion County Central team.

From there, the Rebels were able to hold off Dyer County to remain atop the district standings.

Triston Seabourn led the way for the Choctaws with 14 points while Jamin Gauldin added 13 in the loss.

Dyer County returns to action on Tuesday when the Choctaws and Lady Choctaws travel to Alamo to take on Crockett County at 6 p.m.
