Arrest warrant issued for Crockett County High School teacher, coach

A long-time West Tennessee basketball coach has been issued an arrest warrant following an incident this past Saturday following a basketball game.

A post on the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department Facebook page stated the following:

“As the result of a multi-day investigation, the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department received a warrant this morning for the arrest of Rick Rudesill stemming from an incident that occurred February 1, 2025, in the locker room of the Crockett County High School following a basketball game. “Eyewitnesses were interviewed, including other coaches, which indicated that the head coach placed his hand on a student athlete's neck in an unwanted manner to demonstrate his frustration with a game official. An arrest warrant was issued and Mr. Rudesill’s attorney has advised us he will report to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department for booking. This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information related to this incident can contact the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at 731-696-2104.

“The charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law. The defendant has the right to be arraigned on these charges and a bond will be set by the judge - not the arresting agency. The 28th Judicial District Attorney General Frederick Agee will be prosecuting this case where facts and evidence against the defendant will be presented in the court of law.”

JP Productions Sports contacted Crockett School Administration on Thursday afternoon and school officials declined to comment on the matter.

Crockett County is scheduled to host Obion County Central in District 13-3A action.
