Obion County Central kept its sights on the District 13-3A Regular Season Championship by staying unbeaten in the district schedule with an 80-63 win over Dyer County in Newbern on Tuesday night.
Jamin Gauldin led Dyer County with eight points in the opening quarter while Clay Dodds added four as the Choctaws trailed 17-14 after one quarter.
A balanced scoring effort from the Choctaws with three-pointers from Jayden Tyler and Gauldin kept the Dyer County boys in striking distance even though the Rebels increased their lead to 34-26 at the half.
Led by nine points from Devin Hayward and seven by Triston Seabourn, Dyer County had its best-scoring quarter of the night with 22 points in the first eight minutes of the second half. Central, however, was five points better than that pace and pushed its lead to 61-48 heading into the final frame.
From there, the Rebels outscored Dyer County 19-15 to secure the win.
Hayward and Gauldin each led the way for Dyer County with 15 points each while Seabourn tossed in 11 in the loss.
Dyer County returns to action on Friday when the Choctaws and Lady Choctaws celebrate Senior Night with action tipping off at 6 p.m. in Newbern against Crockett County.
