Choctaws beat Crockett County in Senior Night matchup

In a closer contest than their previous meeting in Alamo, the Choctaws picked up their second win of the year over Crockett County, pulling away in the fourth quarter for a 60-53 victory over the Cavaliers.

The Choctaws took the lead in the first quarter thanks to a 10-point frame by Triston Seabourn to take a 19-12 lead after one quarter.

Jamin Gauldin led the way for Dyer County in the second quarter with seven points. But the Cavaliers were able to tally 13 points to the Choctaws’ nine to cut the orange and white lead to 29-25 at the half.

Thanks to an 11-point frame by Zay Jones for the Cavaliers, Crockett county was able to cut further into the Dyer County lead. Four-point quarters from Gauldin and Ryker Hayes helped the Choctaws take a 39-38 lead into the final frame.

Dyer County pulled away in the fourth quarter as seven points from Devin Hayward and five by Gauldin helped the Choctaws to a 21-point quarter to get the win.

Gauldin lead the way for the Choctaws with 19 points while Seabourn tossed in 18 in the win.

Dyer County moves into the District 13-3A Tournament on Monday when the Choctaws take on Crockett County again at 7:30 p.m.
