Dyer County boys drop district game at South Gibson

Dyer County lead early by a strong second quarter from the hosting Hornets led to a 53-46 South Gibson win despite a late Choctaw rally.
Dyer County got three-pointers from Jaden Tyler and Jamin Gaudlin to help the Choctaws take a 12-7 lead after one quarter.
But, the South Gibson defense held the Choctaws to 11 points in the second quarter while adding 18 points on their side of the court to take a 25-23 lead at the half.
The Choctaws only got a jumper and a trey from Gauldin and another bucket from Ryker Hayes during the first eight minutes of the second half. Meanwhile, the Hornets tacked on 16 points to take a 41-30 lead into the fourth quarter.
Dyer County battled back with strong fourth quarter with 12 points from Gauldin but the Hornets held on to hold off the Choctaws for the win.
Gauldin led Dyer County with 25 points in the loss for the orange and white.
Dyer County returns to action on Friday when the Choctaws host Dyersburg in a District 13-3A contest. Girls action begins at 6 p.m. with the boys game to follow.
