With his senior season approaching on the pitch next month with Dyer County, Choctaw Soccer senior Tyler Fowlkes knows where he will play futbol in the spring of 2026 as he signed with Bethel University on Wednesday afternoon at Dyer County High School.
“I am really excited,” Fowlkes said of signing with the Wildcats to continue his soccer career. “I think it’s going to be an amazing journey. I feel like I have more left to come and I am really excited for the future.”
Fowlkes, who also played football and was the Choctaws’ kicker, said the soccer offer from Bethel was too good to pass up.
“Soccer has always been my life,” he explained. “Prior to this, I’d only been getting football offers. Knowing this was probably one of the only soccer offers I was going to get, I couldn’t pass up on it.”
Dyer County Head Coach Stephen Goodman said Bethel is getting a smart player in Fowlkes.
“He’s athletic and he puts in a great effort,” Goodman explained. “He’s excellent out on the field and puts in the work but he also matches it in the classroom. He does a really good job keeping his grades up – and not just up but at a high level.”
Over his high school career, Goodman said Fowlkes has been a staple in the program.
“He’s an impact player,” Goodman added. “He’s going to leave an impact on the program.
