Lady Choctaws fall to South Gibson

Dyer County started off the week on a tough note as the Lady Choctaws fell to South Gibson, keeping the Lady Hornets pursuit of the District 13-3A alive with a 62-26 win over the orange and white on Tuesday in Medina.

The Lady Choctaws were held to just buckets from Tykeria Kennedy and Ava Pearson as well as a free throw by Alijah Robinson and fell behind 21-5 after one quarter.

A three-pointer from Molly Roberts and a bucket by Julie Cogdill paced Dyer County in the second quarter as part of a nine-point performance by the Lady Choctaws. South Gibson added 17 more points to lead 38-14 at the break.

Dyer County was held to four points from Anitra Honore and a three-pointer by Pearson as South Gibson took a commanding 50-21 lead into the final frame.

The Lady Hornets outscored Dyer County 12-5 in the final quarter to seal the win.

Roberts led the way for the Lady Choctaws with eight points in the loss.

Dyer County returns to action on Friday when the Lady Choctaws host Dyersburg at 6 p.m. in District 13-3A action.
