Lady Choctaws pick up win over Obion County Central

The Lady Choctaws began the final week of the regular season on a positive note, getting their second win in District 13-3A play with a 57-36 victory over Obion County Central on Tuesday night in Newbern.

With six points each by Anitra Honore and Tykeria Kennedy, the Lady Choctaws got out in front early and took a 14-9 lead after the opening quarter.

In the second quarter, freshman Julie Cogdill hit a pair of three-pointers and a free throw while Honore added six more to help Dyer County extend the Lady Choctaw lead to 32-21 at the half.

Kennedy and Honore led the way again in the third quarter, scoring six and five respectively as the Lady Choctaws pushed their lead to 47-33 heading into the final frame.

From there, Dyer County outscored the Lady Rebels 10-3 over the final eight minutes to secure the win.

Honore led Dyer County with 17 points while Kennedy had 15 in the win.

Dyer County returns to action on Friday when the Lady Choctaws host Crockett County for Senior Night beginning at 6 p.m.
