The Dyersburg girls team kept their hands of the top spot in the District 13-3A standings going as the Lady Trojans jumped out to a near-double-digit lead after the opening on the way to doubling up the Lady Rebels, 64-32, on Friday night in the Terry Glover Gymnasium to celebrate homecoming.

With a ten-point frame by Chelby Jordan along with six more by Joya Crawford, the Lady Trojans took an 18-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Dyersburg’s defense came out stronger in the second frame, holding Central to just five points in the final eight minutes of the first half. Meanwhile, Crawford tossed in seven while Aerie Quinn added six on the way to Dyersburg taking a 37-14 lead at the half.

The Lady Rebels doubled their point total in the third quarter as their offense was more productive in the second half. But, Dyersburg continued to put the ball in the hoop as Crawford added eight and Kalli Maclin tossed in six as the Lady Trojans took a 56-28 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

From there, the Lady Trojans cruised to the 32-point win, outscoring Central 8-4 in the final quarter.

Crawford led the way for the Lady Trojans with 25 points while Jordan added 23 in the win.

Dyersburg returns to action on Tuesday when the Lady Trojans host Crockett County at 6 p.m. in a rematch of the black and gold’s lone District 13-3A loss.
