Northview holds off North Parkway to advance in Section 3 Tournament

After playing to a stalemate following a half, Northview's boys had a strong third quarter to get a lead and some breathing room then held off North Parkway for the 42-36 win to advance to the semifinals of the TMSAA Boys Class AA Section 3 Tournament at Dyersburg Middle School on Saturday.
With the game tied at 21-21 at the half, Northview four points each from Josiah Barbee and Clark Ross as well as buckets by Alex Dye and Stetson Swift. Meanwhile, the Choctaw defense held North Parkway to just five points to take a 33-26 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
North Parkway rallied in the final frame after Northview briefly added to its lead. But, buckets from six points from Barbee and three by Ross helped the Choctaws seal the win and advance to Tuesday night's semifinals.
With four points each from Dye and Ross in the opening frame, the Choctaws took a 12-9 lead after the first quarter.Abrien Dennis led the way for the Choctaws with five points in the second quarter but North Parkway rallied to tie the score at 21-21 at the half.
Barbee led the way for the Choctaws with 14 points while Ross added 11 in the win.
Northview faces Martin - who received a first-round bye - in the semifinals of the TMSAA Class AA Section 3 Tournament at DMS on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
