The Norhtview boys’ team’s quest for the TMSAA Class AA State Tournament came to an end on Monday night at Dyersburg Middle School as the Choctaws fell to Westview Middle School, 56-36, in the semifinals of the TMSAA Class AA Section 3 Tournament.

Five points from Josiah Barbee early as well as a Clark Ross free throw accounted for the Northview first-quarter scoring as the Choctaws trailed 16-6 after one frame.

Northview came out stronger in the second quarter, getting a pair of buckets and a three-pointer from Ross to lead the way as the Choctaws were down 31-18 at the half.

Led by four points by Ross and a bucket from Alex Dye, Northview was able to gain a little on the Chargers, trailing 38-27 heading into the fourth quarter.

But, Westview was able to answer in the final six minutes, outscoring the Choctaws 18-9 to secure the win and end the orange and white’s season just two wins shy of reaching the state tournament.

Ross and Barbee each led the way for the Choctaws with a dozen points each in the loss.

Westview moves on to play Crestview on Thursday night at 7:15 p.m. in the Section 3 Championship Game at DMS.
