Three Oaks girls falls to North Parkway in opening round

Three Oaks led early on during the TMSAA Class AA Girls Section 3 Tournament at Dyersburg Middle School on Saturday but third-quarter struggles doomed the Lady Choctaws to a season-ending loss to North Parkway, falling 33-22 to the Jackson middle school.


Three Oaks took the lead in the opening quarter, getting four points from Maelynn McCrary and a three-pointer from Emma Throgmorten to take a 9-8 lead after one frame.

Three Oaks had a productive second quarter as well, getting buckets from Sha'Mya Crittendon, BriAsia Wilkes and Ella Beasley. But, North Parkway responded with an 11-point frame to take a 19-16 lead at the half. 

The Lady Choctaws struggled scoring during the third quarter as Three Oaks was limited to a Wilkes bucket and a free throw from Throgmorten. Meanwhile, North Parkway tacked on nine more points to take a 28-19 lead heading into the third quarter.

Three Oaks struggles continued into the final frame as the orange and white were held to three points from Crittendon and one point from Throgmorten as the Lady Choctaws season came to an end with an 11-point loss.

Wilkes and Throgmorten each led the way for the Lady Choctaws with six points in the loss.
