If South Fulton was looking to come to Tiptonville for a Valentine's Day treat, they got one they weren't expecting as Lake County's Mariah Valentine led the way for the Lady Falcons in a 24-point night to help her team take a 59-54 win over the Lady Red Devils.

Lake County's Maria Valentine had the hot hand early, answering a pair of South Fulton buckets with a trio of three-pointers in the opening quarter. The Lady Red Devils battled back to hold the Lady Falcons to a Caron Johnson bucket over the next four minutes while coming back to cut the green and gold lead to 11-10. But, a free throw from Laken Chism and another Valentine three-pointer gave Lady County a 15-10 lead after one quarter.

South Fulton rallied again in the second frame to tie the game at 15-15 with 6:14 left. A Jordan Burpo free throw and two more by Chism put Lake County back on top. South Fulton answered with a 6-2 run to take the lead before a Johnson bucket put Lake County back on top late. After a South Fulton tally gave the Lady Red Devils the lead with 21 seconds left in the half before a late free throw from Chism tied the game at 23-23.

Johnson opened the second half with a strong, eight-point performance to put her team up 33-27 with 6:18 left in the third quarter. But, as the Lady Red Devils had done through the second frame, South Fulton battled back to cut into the lead. After the Lady Red Devils tied the game at 41-41 late in the frame, Lake County retook the lead and took a 47-46 advantage thanks in large part to a Valentine three-pointer with five seconds left.

A Chism bucket and a three-point play by Valentine early in the fourth frame gave the Lady Falcons some breathing room with a six-point lead. South Fulton cut that in half but a Chism bucket made it a two-possession game for a moment. An Alli McFarland three-pointer cut Lake County's lead back to 54-52 midway through the quarter. But, a bucket by Valentine and a free throw later after the Lady Falcons ran much of the fourth quarter down went a long way to sealing the win. After a late South Fulton bucket, the Lady Red Devils fouled multiple times with the last one sending Johnson to the line. The senior Lady Falcon hit both to seal the win on Senior Night.

Valentine led the way for the Lady Falcons with 24 points while Johnson scored 18 in her final home game as a Lady Falcon. Chism scored 16 in the win.

Lake County will play in next week's District 14A Tournament which begins on Monday night at satellite locations.
