Dyersburg bounces back with big win at JCS


 

Coming off their first loss of the season at District 13-3A foe Obion County Central, the Lady Trojans got back on the winning track on Tuesday with a 13-3 win over Jackson Christian School in Jackson.

Dyersburg put the game in their pocket early, scoring 11 times in the first inning. During the top of the opening inning which saw 14 batters come to the plate, Izzie Odom singled in a run to get the scoring started then Lily Kate Jones’ groundout plated another run. Avery Hicks singled in a run then Addie Gatlin doubled in another. Avery Hinson reached on an error two batters later to score two more runs then a three-run triple from Bella Turnage put Dyersburg on top nine. Jones followed with a one-run triple then scored on a passed ball to the put the Lady Trojans on top 11-0 after just a half inning.

Dyersburg tacked on two more in the top of the second on an RBI triple from Jones and a one-run double by Hicks to make it a 13-0 game.

From there, the Lady Trojans cruised to their third win of the season which ended in a mercy rule victory after five innings.

Jones led the way for the Lady Trojans with a pair of triples and three RBI while Turnage added a triple and a single with a trio of RBI. Hicks added a double and a single with two RBI.

Odom, the recipient of the 11-run lead before throwing a pitch, went the distance, allowing three runs on five hits with a pair of strikeouts.

The Lady Trojans return to action on Monday, March 24 when Dyersburg travels to South Gibson at 5 p.m.
