Lake County was able to provide a brief answer to five early
runs by the Lady Bulldogs on Friday night to end their week of spring break
games but Gleason scored eight times down the stretch to take a 13-3 win over
the Lady Falcons in Tiptonville.
Trailing 5-0 after the top of the fourth inning, the Lady Falcons
looked to catch Gleason in the bottom of the frame. Kaitlin Jones walked to
lead off the frame then stole second before scoring on a Gentri Beal single to right
and put Lake County on the board. Moments later, Beal scored on a passed ball.
Jordan Burpo then cut the Gleason lead to two with an RBI single cutting the deficit
to 5-3 in the Lady Bulldogs’ favor after four innings.
But, Gleason answered with a five-run fifth then a run in the sixth before tacking on two more in the seventh to get the win.
Caron Johnson, Beal, Jones and Burpo all had singles to account
for the four Lake County hits in the loss.
Lake County returns to action on Monday when the Lady Falcons
travel to Union City at 6:30 p.m.
