Lady Eagles dominate Motlow on Sophomore Day

On a day where Dyersburg State honored the sophomore members of its women’s basketball team, the Lady Eagles took care of business on the court and then some, dominating Motlow State 75-40 in the Ed Lannom Jr. Memorial Gymnasium.


The Lady Eagles got seven points from Alana Seals and five more by Katie Chessor in the opening quarter as Dyersburg State took a 20-8 lead over the Lady Bucks after one frame.

Dyersburg State added to its lead in the second quarter. Makayla Skinner and Sariyah Williams each scored four points in the second half to go along with a Sanayah Starks three-pointer to build a 35-17 advantage at the half.

The Lady Eagles then dominated the second half, outscoring Motlow State 40-23 over the final 20 minutes to secure the 35-point win.

Rebecca Wood led the way for the Lady Eagles with 15 points while Seals added 14. Williams tossed in 12 and Skinner scored 10 in the win.

Dyersburg State closes out the regular season on Monday when the Lady Eagles host Southwest Tennessee Community College at 4 p.m.
