Lake County snaps skid, defeats South Fulton

The Lake County Falcons got back on the winning side of the ledger, snapping a five-game losing streak with a 5-2 win over South Fulton on Monday evening in Tiptonville.

The Falcons got on the board in the bottom of the first as Sawyer Roberson doubled to lead off the frame but was called out trying to score on a Chance Estes grounder. But, Estes advance to second on the throw home and scored on the following single from J COCHRAN to put Lake County on top 1-0 after one inning.

Two frames later, the Falcons extended their lead with two out in the bottom of the third. Cade Lanier singled then Estes drew a walk to put two on. Cochran singled in a run as did B JOHNSON. A third straight single by B BYRD plated a run to put Lake County on top 4-0 after three innings.

The green and gold added one more run in the fourth when Roberson singled then scored on an Estes sacrifice fly to put the Falcons up five after four frames.

Though South Fulton was able to cut into the Lake County lead twice with runs in the fifth and seventh, the Falcons held on to get the three-run win.

Roberson led the way for Lake County with a double and a single in the win. Lanier and Cochran each had a pair of singles with the latter driving in two.

Johnson picked up the win on the mound, allowing two runs on five hits with ten strikeouts.
