Lake County unable to answer early Peabody runs

Lake County fell behind Peabody early on Friday and were unable to bounce back, falling 14-2 to the Golden Tide in Tiptonville.

Peabody scored a run in the first then five in the second to take a 6-0 lead after an inning and a half. Bryson Johnson singled to lead off the bottom of the second for the Falcons then scored when Bryce Byrd reached on an error to cut the Peabody lead to 6-1 after two frames.

Peabody got the run back in the top of the third but Lake County was able to answer in the bottom of the inning. Chance Estes singled with one out then scored on a Johnson single to cut the Golden Tide lead to 7-2 after three innings.


The Golden Tide scored five in the fourth and two more in the fifth to seal the mercy-rule win.

Johnson led the way at the plate for the Falcons with two singles. All seven Lake County hits were singles.

Lake County returns to action on Monday when the Falcons host South Fulton at 5 p.m. in Tiptonville.
