Three Oaks picks up win No. 12 on the season
The Three Oaks Choctaws continued their unbeaten streak to start the season, moving to 12-0 on the year with a 10-1 win over Lake County on Thursday evening.
The Choctaws got on the board in the bottom of the first,
getting a Landon Todd single and a Cullen Messer double before a groundout by Braxton
Anderson plated the first run of the ball game. Grayson Daniels added an RBI single
to put the Choctaws up 2-0 after one inning.
Lake County cut the Choctaws lead in half in the top of the
third with a Harrison homer to left to out the Falcons on the board as the green
and gold trailed 2-1 after two and a half innings.
Three Oaks answered in its half of the third. A Maddox Davis
single to lead off the frame was followed two batters later by an Anderson
double to score a run. Daniels singled in another run to give the Choctaws a
4-1 lead after three innings.
Two innings later, the Choctaws added to their advantage. Davis
reached on an error to lead off the inning then scored on a Messer single. Crawford
Childress grounded out later in the inning to score Messer to put the Choctaws on
top 6-1 heading into the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth, Tallon Harrell led off the frame
with a home run then Davis reached on another error later in the inning to
score another run. Messer then doubled in a run before Anderson singled in
another run to bring the game to a close.
Harrell homered and had a pair of singles with an RBI to lead
Three Oaks at the plate. Messer had two doubles and a single, driving in two while
Anderson had a double and two singles. Landon Todd and Daniels each had a pair
of singles in the win.
Harrison had a home run and a single to lead the Falcons at
the plate.
Todd picked up the win, allowing one run on four hits with
eight strikeouts through five innings.
Three Oaks returns to action on Friday, April 4 when the Choctaws host Haywood at 5:30 p.m. Meanwhile, Lake County hosts Crockett County at 6:30 on Monday.
