Lake County celebrates Senior Night with sweep over Liberty

Lake County got back on the winning track on Wednesday just in time to honor its senior softball players as the Lady Falcons handed visiting Liberty Tech Magnet a pair of mercy-rule losses in Tiptonville as LCHS celebrated senior night.

In the opener, the Lake County offense had a big second inning with seven runs on the way to the 14-0.


Senior Rachel Mahan led the way at the plate with a home run and a single, driving in a pair of runs. Kaitlin Jones had a double and a single as well.

Kensi Hays picked up the win, allowing only one hit with six strikeouts in the win.

Between the games, Lake County honored seniors Kabreonna Clayton, Rachel Mahan, Karsyn Hays, and Caren Johnson.

In the second game of the day, the Lady Falcons scored 15 runs in two innings on the way to the first win over the day, 15-2.

Senior Caren Johnson led the way at the plate for Lake County with a pair of singles and an RBI, accounting for a third of the Lady Falcons’ six hits.

Kenthia Thomas picked up the win in the circle, allowing two runs on one hit, recording five of the six outs with strikeouts.

Lake County returns to action on Monday when the Lady Falcons travel to Milan at 5:30 p.m.
