Three Oaks took an early lead in the regular-season finale on Thursday evening but the Lady Falcons battled back to make a game of it before falling 7-5 to the Lady Choctaws at Three Oaks.

Three Oaks got on the board in the bottom of the first with an RBI triple by Braelyn Fowler to break the scoreless tie. Two batters later, Mattie Moore doubled in two more Lady Choctaws before scoring when Kilayna Roberts drew a bases-loaded walk to put Three Oaks on top 4-0 after one inning.

The Lady Choctaws tacked on a run in the bottom of the second on an RBI single from pitcher Ava Prince to take a 5-0 lead after two frames.

Lake County finally broke through in the top of the third. Landri Stewart reached on an error then Lainey Cism singled in a run. Bryleigh Walls then reached on an error to push another run across. A Johnson then reached on another Three Oaks miscue to cut the Lady Choctaw lead to 5-3 after two and a half innings.

Three Oaks got one of those runs back in the bottom of the fourth. Fowler singled then scored when Moore reached on an error to put Three Oaks back ahead 6-3 after four innings.

The Lady Choctaws picked up another insurance run in the bottom of the fifth when Larsen Parker led off with a single. She then scored later in the frame on a Robert groundout to put Three Oaks on top 7-3 heading into the sixth inning.

Lake County kept it interesting, getting an RBI single from Charlie Jo Hays and an RBI groundout by Stewart to cut Three Oaks’ lead to two with two outs. A fly out though ended the Lady Falcon threat and sealed the win for the Lady Choctaws.

Fowler had a triple and a single to lead the way for the Lady Choctaws at the plate. Chism’s two singles led Lake County’s offense.

Prince took the win in the circle, allowing five runs on five hits with six strikeouts. Stewart took the loss for the Lady Falcons.

Both teams will take part in the West Tennessee Athletic Conference Tournament which begins next week.
