Trojans, Choctaws take part on “Fools’ Day” meet

With the month of April beginning on Tuesday, Dyersburg and
Dyer County track teams took part in the “Fools’ Day” Meet hosted by the Trojans
and Lady Trojans at J.C. Sawyers Stadium.
On the girls’ side, Dyer County had four first-place
finishers in events through the day. Alijah Robinson won the 100-meter dash
while Bailey Haliburton took first in the 3,200-meter run. Dyer County’s 4x100
meter relay took first in that event while Louisa Klebe took first in the triple
jump.
Dyer County also had high finishes in other events. Anitra
Honore took second in the shot put while Gracie Ledford placed second in the triple
jump. The 4x200 relay team placed second and Anna Hampton took third in the 1,600-meter
run. Teagan Reed placed third in both 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.
Dyersburg’s girls also had three first-place finishes in events. Alyria Green took first in the 200-meter dash while Cedeyshia Dennis placed first in both the 100-meter hurdles and the long jump.
Amariah Atkins came in second in the 100-meter hurdles and
third in the triple jump. Na’Zyia Lemons placed in second in the 300-meter
hurdles.
In the boys’ events, both local teams each had an event winner. Dyer County’s Keanthony Barbee won the long jump while Dyersburg’s Jaden Harris won the 300-meter hurdles.
Dyer County also had other athletes finish in the top three
of their events. Mason Horner finished second in the shot put while Barbee took
second in the triple jump and third in the 110-meter hurdles. Grant Powers came
in second in the high jump and the 4x400-meter relay team placed third. In the 1,600-meter
run, Dyer County’s Tayshun Bowers placed second while Clark French took third.
Jaylen Moore came in third in the 100-meter dash.
Dyersburg’s Quincy Terry placed second in the 200-meter dash
while Alonso Green was the runner-up in the long jump.
Dyersburg and Dyer County return to action on Thursday,
April 10 when the Trojans and Choctaws take part in Dyersburg’s meet at J.C.
Sawyers Stadium.
