The Dyer County stamp on one of the biggest cheerleading
programs in the state grew a little bit on Wednesday afternoon as Choctaw senior
Anthony Jimenez signed with the University of Tennessee to continue his cheer
career at the college level.
“Love it, it’s my dream school,” Jimenez said about signing
to become a Volunteer cheerleader.
Jimenez, a young man of few words, expressed his love for
his future school as a deciding factor.
“I love Tennessee and I love their cheer program,” he
explained. “I feel like I am going to have fun.”
Dyer County Cheer Coach Jill Powers talked about Jimenez’s
impact on the program during his time in orange and white.
“Anthony Jimenez has been a tremendous part of the co-ed
program here at Dyer County High School,” Powers said. “His career is just
getting started.
“We’re very excited to see him take his athletics and his
talents to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he will be an asset
to their program.”
