With the end of the school year and graduation approaching later this month, Dyersburg senior dancer Ava Seratt will continue to dance at the college level, signing with the University of West Virginia on Friday morning at Dyersburg High School.

“I’m really excited,” Seratt said. “The program for dance at West Virginia had everything I was looking for.

“And they also have the forensic examiner major that I was looking forward to examining.”

Seratt added West Virginia really marked all the boxes for her.

“It was such a beautiful campus as well,” she added.

With graduation, Dyersburg Coach Cathy Bona helps send Seratt to the next after having her as a student and student athlete for well over a decade.

“Ava has been with my studio, Fine Arts Warehouse, since she was three,” Bona explained. “She has been dedicated to her art and her sport for those 15 years.

“She’s in the studio training and she’s been on the dance team at the middle school and high school for seven years where she also trains for her school sport.”

Bona added Seratt’s level of dedication and love of her art and creativity is what West Virginia is getting.

“Her talent and skill has brought a creativity and enthusiasm in showing other girls her passion and bringing other girls along with her because of how much she enjoys dance,” Bona said. “It makes her a role model for the younger dancers as they come up through the program.”
