With frequent and sometimes heavy rain moving into Murfreesboro on Tuesday, the TSSAA has moved the start of the State Softball Tournaments to Wednesday.

Dyer County, who was scheduled to open the tournament on Tuesday at 1 p.m., will now take on Unicoi County at 9 a.m. on Wednesday on McKnight Field #2 at the Murfreesboro Sports Complex.

With the Tuesday games being combined into the Wednesday schedule, teams will, win or lose, play twice on Wednesday. If the Choctaws win, Dyer County will play the winner of McNairy Central and DeKalb County on McKnight Field #1. If Dyer County falls to Unicoi County, the Choctaws will take on the loser of the McNairy Central and DeKalb County game on McKnight Field #3. Both of those games will be at 3 p.m.

A win on Wednesday will assure teams of making it to Thursday’s action, which has not currently been effected by the weather.
