Three Oaks baseball cruises into sectional title game behind Morris no-hitter

Coming off one of the closer games the unbeaten Choctaws have played this season on their way to over 20 wins, Three Oaks took care of business on Wednesday, scoring early and often on the way to a 15-0 win over West Middle School in the TMSAA Class A Section 4 Tournament in Jackson.

The Choctaws were held scoreless in the bottom of the first but more than made up for it in the second frame. Braxton Anderson led off with a single then Crawford Childress singled two batters later. With two outs, the offense put it into drive as Corbyn Kolwyck drew a walk to load the bases before a Nate Vick single scored a pair of runs. Landon Todd drew a walk to load the bases again then Maddox Davis reached on an error to score a run. After a balk pushed across another run, Cullen Messer singled in two more to put the Choctaws up 6-0 heading into the third frame.

Leading off the third, Grayson Daniels was hit by a pitch and Childress singled. Talon Harrell doubled in two runs then Vick and Todd reached on back-to-back errors with the second one scoring a run. Another balk pushed across a run then Davis singled in another to put the Choctaws up by 11. A two-run single from Messer gave Three Oaks a 12-0 lead then another balk added a run. A third balk in the inning put the Choctaws on the doorstep of ending it before a Kolwcyk doubled in the final run to bring the mercy run into play.

Messer and Childress each had a pair of singles to lead the way for Three Oaks at the plate.

Seth Morris picked up the win on the mound, throwing a no-hitter while striking out three in three innings of work.

Three Oaks will take on Martin on Thursday night at 6 p.m. in the TMSAA Class A Section 4 Championship Game at Jackson.
