Trojan soccer gets by White Station in OT, onto semifinals

Dyersburg Middle School continued its run through the postseason in middle school boys soccer, advancing tonight with a huge quarterfinal 1-0 win over White Station at Houston Middle School on Wednesday evening.

DMS's one-goal victory came in the final 30 seconds of the first 'Golden Goal' overtime period. Hudson Ford battled the White Station defenders and slotted the winning shot past their goalkeeper.

Trojan goalkeeper Cooper Duggan assisted on the winning goal.

With the win, the DMS boys continued their undefeated season with their 16-0 record.

DMS Assistant Coach Troy Kerber had plenty to say about the DMS team after the win.

“The eighth graders on our team are very mature players and are receptive to strategies that helped produce the victory,” Kerber said. “I am so proud of the team captains, Hudson, Isaac, and Celso! They really got the team pumped up as we went into overtime.

“White Station was a very experienced and well-coached team. It was a great team win!”

Houston Middle School will host DMS on Monday, May 5 at 5:30 p.m. for the semifinal game.
