A pop culture and sports entertainment tradition returns
this weekend as the annual Dyersburg Comic Con & Pop Culture Con is taking
place at the Lannon Center on Saturday.
Beginning at 9 a.m. for those who purchase early-bird
tickets, the worlds of comic books, entertainment and sports entertainment
combine for local pop culture fans.
This year’s con brings a trio of headlining guests to
Dyersburg and runs from 10 a.m. (9 a.m. with early-bird ticket) to 4 p.m.
On the sports end of things, Bill Eade, known nationally as
former World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Champion Demolition Ax as well as
the Masked Superstar in the National Wrestling Alliance, will be at the con to
meet wrestling fans during the event.
Ax was a member of the long-reigning tag team championship
team of Demolition during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Prior to that, he
competed in the NWA as both a singles and tag team wrestler, the Masked
Superstar.
He had his final match in 2017.
Animation fans can meet Robert R. Smith, who is famous for Codename:
Kids Next Door as well as other animation projects.
Actor Barry Lowin, a performer with over 20 years of
experience in film and television, will also be appearing on Saturday. He's
known for his roles in The Mandalorian, The Big Bang Theory,
and The Bold and the Beautiful.
Early-bird tickets – which allow purchasers to enter the Con an hour early – are $15 and will get the Con-goers inside at beginning at 9 a.m. Regular priced tickets are $10 at the door and will get attendees inside at 10 a.m.
