Dyer County Middle School soccer defeats Dyersburg

The first kicks of the soccer season were made on Tuesday afternoon in Newbern as the Dyer County Middle School soccer team picked up a 3-1 win over Dyersburg at Dyer County High School in the season opener for both teams.

The win marked the first time the girls' team made up of players from Northview and Three Oaks has defeated Dyersburg Middle School in soccer.

After having multiple shots on goal during the early stages of the game while only allowing one on the other end, Dyer County got on the board in the 21st minute as Addisyn Trout scored to put the Lady Choctaws up 1-0 late in the first half.

The score remained 1-0 through the rest of the opening half.

Dyer County added to its lead ten minutes into the second half as Abi Bullen scored to put the Lady Choctaws up 2-0 in the 40th minute.

Dyersburg answered quickly, getting a goal from Fatou Manneh scored to cut the Dyer County lead to 2-1 in the 41st minute.


The Lady Choctaws answered a few minutes later as Trout scored on a breakaway goal to push the Dyer County lead back to 3-1 in the 48th minute.

From there, the Lady Choctaw defense was able to hold the Lady Trojans off the board for the final 12 minutes to get the win.


Dyer County heads back onto the pitch on Tuesday, Aug. 19 when the Lady Choctaws host Brighton at 6 p.m. DMS returns to action on Tuesday, Aug. 19 when the Lady Trojans host Munford at 6 p.m.
