Dyersburg boys bounce back to win three-way match

 



The Trojan golf team bounced back just 24 hours after falling in a season-opening loss on Monday to defeat Gibson County and Obion County Central on Tuesday afternoon at The Farms.

John David Morris led the way for the Trojans, taking second medalist with a 38, just one stroke behind Gibson County’s Colin Pack. Brett Horner followed Morris’ lead with a 40 while Ryan Wesson and Thaxton Coppage shot matching 44s to give the Dyersburg the win with a combined score of 162.

Gibson County placed second with a score of 189.

Obion County Central was led by Tanner Richmond and Sam Russell with matching 51s. Jack Akin came off the course with a 53 while Levi Hendrix shot a 55 to give the Rebels a 210 match score.

In girls’ action, Dyersburg’s Cally Cook and Stella Madden led the way with matching 57s on the day. Obion County Central’s Mollie Brown shot a 62 for the Lady Rebels.

Dyersburg returns to the course on Monday when the black and gold host Gibson County at The Farms at 4 p.m. Central returns to action on Thursday when the Rebels and Lady Rebels travel to Hickman, Ky. at 4 p.m.
