Though the Choctaws got off to a slow start against a scrappy
Lady Rebel team on Thursday in Dyer County’s 2025 home debut, the orange and
white ended the first set with a dominant climax to the first frame on the way
to a three-set sweep in Newbern.
After suffering a three-set sweep in Troy last week at Dyer County’s hands, the Lady Rebels opened the first set strong. Central showed a lot of fire and energy, taking an early lead and holding it until a timeout with a 15-10 advantage punctuated by a kill from Kodie Robbins. The Choctaws came out of the timeout focused. With junior libero Evie Rogers serving, Dyer County rattled off a lengthy run which included multiple kills and blocks from Rylee Key and another by Zoey Morris to take the first set 25-15.
From there, the Choctaws took control, taking the second set
25-10 as well as the third by an identical score.
Dyer County returns to action on Saturday when the Choctaws
travel to Jackson, Mo. for tournament action. Central hits the court next on
Monday when the Lady Rebels travel to Martin to take on Westview at 6 p.m.
